Como Residential Frontage Case Study - Completely Integrated

Client: Private residential client Location: Como, Western Australia
This was not a breakdown callout. The property needed a new frontage installed as a complete system.
Solution:
AGM attended site first to confirm the supplied frontage design, check the gate and fencing layout, and verify installation dimensions against what had been drawn.
CAD shop drawings were produced in-house covering the gate, fencing and infill components. Electrical and conduit prelays were completed within AGM's scope before the frontage was closed up, and the gate, fencing, automation, intercom and access control works were coordinated as one program.
Final measurements were deliberately held until the supporting building works by others were finished, so fabrication proceeded from the dimensions that actually existed on site.
The installed scope covered:
Installation ran in stages, followed by testing, commissioning and a handover that included education and demonstration for the client.
Key Success Factors:
Single-provider accountability across fabrication, automation, electrical and access control is what allowed the critical requirements to be resolved before fabrication. That list included gate geometry and clearances, post positions, automation mounting, conduit and cable prelays, safety device positions, and where the intercom and access control equipment would sit.
Every component was considered as part of the whole installation rather than fitted in isolation. The sequencing discipline around the third-party building works was the other half of it, and the technical knowledge carried through to final programming, safety testing and commissioning.
Client Feedback:
The client gave positive feedback on the completed project and was very happy with the overall result. They will continue using AGM Automation for ongoing maintenance and servicing, and will recommend AGM to others for future gate automation and access control work.
Technical Insights:
On a complete residential frontage, base the final gate and fencing fabrication on confirmed finished site dimensions rather than early construction allowances. The difference between the two is usually small and almost always enough to stop something fitting.
Plan electrical conduits, intercom requirements and access control cabling before the frontage is closed up. Retrofitting services through completed brickwork is expensive and rarely looks tidy afterwards.
Where brickwork or other building works sit with separate contractors, allow for a final site measure before fabrication. Gates, fencing and access equipment then go in accurately, and the job needs fewer return visits to finish.
